Boudnath, Nepal

Boudnath stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world. In 1979 it was given the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tibetan merchants have been here for many centuries, so when refugees came to Nepal from Tibet in the late 1950's, many chose to call the surrounding area home. This stupa is said to entomb the remains of a Kasyapa sage. Historically, Kasyapa was a Buddha who lived before the Buddha Shakyamuni. Kasyapa is venerable to both Buddhists and Hindus.
