| Being
in Lombok felt like stepping back in time. The island is very beautiful.
We saw alot of rice farming, thatch making, horse drawn carriages, and oxen
pulled farming equipment side by side with jeeps and Toyota Land Cruisers.
The roads were in very good repair as you can see in this first picture,
getting around was easy and comfortable. Our guide was a young man who grew
up on Lombok and spoke very good English. There are a couple of pictures
of him towards the end of the slideshow in the market. At the market we
bought some vanilla and other spices. We went to an old Muslim village and
to a Batik factory where we met a very old spinner and her young grandsons
who took great pride in showing off their store and selling us fabrics! |
